5) Determine which lessons will be available in your new course (default is ALL) Note: All three CMP3 grades (6,7,8) will be in this new course Option to align the course to Common Core State Standards. These standards are visible when selecting course coverage, creating assignments, exporting student results by standard, viewing performance by standard, &viewing item analysis for assignments First chapter in each grade is prerequisite content for that grade Note: When you de-select lessons, accompanying pre-built/sample tests and homework are automatically removed
6) Select available Learning Aids (default is ALL - except Calculator)
7) After you “Save”, review your Course Summary Make note of your Course ID, which you must provide to your students
Previewing “Sample” Homework CMP3 pre-packaged Homework (called “sample Homework”) found here Select a Unit from the dropdown list to view all Homework assignments available for that unit Note: To assign a HW assignment, the teacher chooses “Copy”. To view a sample HW assignment, teacher selects “Preview” using this drop down menu
Assigning “Sample” Homework Teachers can copy and assign multiple sample assignments (HW, quizzes, tests). From HW & Test Manager page, click Create Assignment, then select “Copy and Assign Sample Assignments”
1) Assignments: Due Date auto-settings 1) Auto-Assign option Yes distributes HW and Quiz assignment due dates evenly across teacher-specified timeframe. These dates can be adjusted afterwards. No allows the teacher to manually assign due dates to the copied assignments—either individually or on a batch “change due dates” page.
2) Assignment selection 2) Select Assignments to Copy
3) Assignments: selecting Due Date ranges 3) if the teacher selected Yes for auto-assigning due dates, she is asked to specify a date range - and days of the week that assignments can be submitted
SampleQuizzes Note: Unlike homework, Quizzes & Tests are “Available” to students by default. Teachers can “Set Availability” to change this. “Available” is different from “Assigned.” “Available” means that the assignments are available to the student with default settings, no due dates, and results will not be factored into the student's overall score. “Assigned” is when a teacher copies & assigns the assessment in order to set preferences, due dates, and include results in a student’s overall score.
Making Personalized Assignments You can link a Readiness Assessment to Readiness Additional Practice - or a Review Assessment to Review Additional Practice. In both cases, the exercises in the Practice set are determined by the student’s performance on the corresponding assessment. Select “Edit” from the Actions drop down menu for the Additonal Practice assignment.
Personalized Assignments: Step 1 On Step 1 of the Edit Homework wizard, check “Yes” to omit questions from objectives that are mastered by the student on the corresponding assessment. This pick list will show sample tests that the teacher has already copied. Select the appropriate Readiness Assessment (in this example Unit 6-1), then click Save or Save & Assign.
Personalized Assignments: Step 2 After clicking Save on the previous screen, you will see a dialog box about question selection. Be sure to click “No” on this screen. (Clicking “Yes” will reduce the number of exercises in the practice assignment.) NOTE: if you click “Yes” by mistake, delete then re-copy the sample assignment to start over.
Personalized Assignments: Student View 1 Student View: After the Readiness Assessment & Additional Practice assignments are made available to students, they will see that the practice assignment has a prerequisite (indicated by the green flag). In this case the Readiness Assessment is the prerequisite, so must be completed first. Upon completion of the Assessment, the green flag will vanish. Tip: By default, the Additional Practice assignment is listed before the sample test in the Assignment list. The teacher should use the Reorder Assignments page to change the order (if they haven’t already) so that the formative Assessment is listed first, as shown here.
Personalized Assignments: Student View 2 After the Readiness Assessment, students can also access their Additional Practice assignment directly from their test summary page. Exercises available in the practice are determined by their test results. Note: Practice Exercises are suppressed if topics are “mastered” in the Assessment. “Mastery” thresholds, which are set at a default of 100%, can be modified by the teacher in the Study Plan Manager.
