  5. Oracle Report Manager

  6. Oracle Report Manager Overview • Oracle Report Manager is an online report distribution system that provides a secure and centralized location to produce and manage all Oracle Reports (FSG, Variable, and Standard). • Oracle Report Manager allows for the use of data from any existing Oracle report or FSG and reformat the data to a different presentation style or delivery format (Excel, PDF, HTML) • Oracle Report Manager reports can be placed on the Oracle E-Business Suite Home page or portal. • Approve reports before making them available for general viewing. • Secure reports by utilizing values, custom, and flexfield segment • Archive reports for future reference that no longer need to be displayed.

  7. Reporting Tools

  8. Templates

  9. Template Overview • A template is the report format that is used by the report manager to publish the reports. All templates are created in Excel • All the templates are report specific and templates need to be defined for each and every report the user has. • Pre-seeded template called ‘Generic FSG Template’ can be used with any report, however, cannot be modified • When creating a new template or editing an existing template you can make the following changes: • Add and remove report elements. • Change the location of report elements on the page. • Modify row and column sizes. • Use standard Excel font formatting such as bold. Default formatting is provided. • Insert text that remains static in the report. • Add images. Supported image files are png, gif, jpg, and bmp • Add background watermark images • Include hyperlinks • Add data values. Data values are report objects that link to XML elements of the report output file and the values are obtained during the publishing process. • Move columns • Insert blank rows

  10. Creating a Template

  11. Creating a Template (Continued)

  12. Created Template

  13. Template Upload • When your template is opened in Excel, you can edit it by clicking on the Add-Ins tab and the Oracle menu command. • Once you have completed all of the changes to your template, you can upload it back to Oracle. • The upload process can be submitted by clicking on Oracle Menu from the standard toolbar. See above screenshot. • After clicking on the upload sub menu, a pop up will appear asking the user to provide the following information: • Template Name: This is user defined • Description: this can be a longer description of the template name. • Language: British English • Overwrite Existing Template: Check the box if you are overwriting an existing template. If you chose this option, it will overwrite any existing templates with the same name. If it is a new template, leave box unchecked. • Enable Drilldown: this will enable drilldown from your FSG report for this template. • Click on the Upload button

  15. Submitting Financial Reports

  16. Submitting Financial Reports You have the following options for submitting and publishing reports: •  Financial Report • Submit any of the Financial Statement Generator (FSG) reports available to your responsibility • Ad Hoc Financial Report Submission • Define the Financial Statement Generator report components at runtime, if a predefined FSG report does not exist. • Standard Report • Submit any of the standard Oracle Applications reports available to your responsibility. These reports require a template that must be setup using Oracle XML Report manager. However, many of the standard reports already have a defined XML template in R12. • Variable Report • Submit variable reports with attribute sets and publishing options defined in Oracle Applications. These are the reports that begin with RXI in the report name.

  17. Submitting Financial Reports -Report Categories • There are four categories of reports • Single Report: A complete report for a specific time-period. • Single Report Over Time: A single report produced for different periods. • Expanded Report: One report displayed in a variety of ways depending upon an expansion value. • Expanded Report Over Time: An expanded report available for different time periods.

  21. Submitting Financial Reports - Storage Location • Designate where to store the report in the repository. • Use Last –will default to the last place you stored the report • New – Allows you to select where you would like to store the report

  22. Submitting Financial Reports - Presentation • Determine which responsibility will have access to a report. Users will access reports by selecting menu items under their responsibility. • One or more reports can be stored under the same location in the repository. • When a menu item is created, it is associated with the repository location, regardless of whether one or many reports are stored in that location.

  23. Publishing Parameters - Review • Review all of your parameters before you submit the report. • Click on the refresh button until the report has completed. Click on view output to see your report.

  24. Submitting Financial Report – Sample of Output • If you select a template that allows drilldown you can drilldown to the details of a line item on the report by double clicking on the amount.

  25. Repository Management

  26. Repository Management • All reports submitted through the Report Manager are stored in the Reports Repository. • The Repository Management allows you to: • Organize and view completed reports • Update publishing and security options for completed reports • Archive and delete reports • Repository Management shows you a hierarchical grid structure that provides an easy way of locating reports. You can only add reports to the repository when the report is published.

  27. Maintain Repository • Use the Maintain Repository page to schedule the Maintain Repository concurrent request. This request will process all reports that are marked for archive or delete. In addition, it will remove menu items that no longer point to active reports. • You can schedule the request to run immediately, or you can set up a recurring schedule to ensure items are archived and purged on a regular basis.

  28. Setup Considerations • Patchset level –Metalink 820653.1 (9 Jul 2009) • Check for latest before implementation • For 11.5.10.2 apply FRM.H over and above FRM.G • For R12 Report Manager is Auto-installed. Apply FRM.A • Report Manager uses Self Service Workflow Applications • Report Manager requires the BNE platform used by Web ADI • Functional Dependencies • FSGs should have been defined in GL • For standard reports, they should be assigned to Request Group assigned to the Report Manager • Custom menu and responsibility for Report Manager • Browser and Excel settings

  29. Custom Menu and Responsibility • Pre-defined menus for Report Manager are not complete • “FRM_SECURITY_MENU” menu is pre-defined but not adequate • Need to define/assign additional functions to custom menu: • Financial Report Template Editor • Financial Report Submission • Standard Report Submission • Repository Management • Alternatively, you may add these functions to the • “GL_SUPERUSER” menu
