Strategies for taking the PSAT • These are a couple of useful strategy that can help you do better on your next PSAT exam.
Strategy 1: Prepare • It’s important to start studying for the PSATs a few days, or maybe even a week before the exam. This way if you run into problems that you need help on you can ask someone and be sure of your answers on the test.
Strategy 2: Spread your studying time • We all know that when studying for a test it’s better to study a little each day rather than cram the night before. Well, the same rule applies to PSAT.
Strategy 3: Focus on your weaknesses • If you know that you’re great at English, but need some work on math, it’s probably a better idea to spend more time studying for the mathematics part of the exam instead of the English.
Strategy 4: Review • After you’ve studied enough and feel that you are comfortable with the information, review with a friend in order to check if there’s anything you need to focus on in particular.
Strategy 5: Get a goodnights' rest before the exam • It’s important that you feel rested and ready to take the test. Your not going to get such a great score if you’re falling asleep.
Strategy 6: Have a good breakfast • Make sure you eat a balanced meal before you go to the exam, you won’t be able to focus on the questions if you’re thinking of food.
Strategy 7: Make sure that you are equipped. • Make sure that when you go to the test you have at least two # 2 pencils, and a calculator for the math problems. (Make sure that your calculator has full batteries)
Strategy 8: Just relax • If you’ve followed all the above strategies you’re ready for the test, so just relax and don’t get stressed out.
Strategy 9: Read all possible choices before selecting an answer • Don’t become too hasty and choose the first answer that fits. There many be another answer that fits even better than the one you chose.
Strategy 10: Don’t spend too much time on one question • It’s important that you don’t spend too much time on one problem. If a problem is giving you trouble, go do the other ones, and if you have time, come back and complete it.
