  2. Whip – Around • List as many ACTION verbs as you can on your paper! • Use your creative writing skills! Think of some good ones!  • I will give you 45 seconds!

  3. What is a verb? • Every predicate has a verb that tells what the subject is or does . • Every sentence must have a verb. • The verb expresses action or being. • The verb may have more than 1 word.

  4. Examples of Verbs • Michelangelo wasan Italian sculptor in the 1500s. • He carvedmany marble statues. • We have seen pictures of his work.

  5. Action Verbs • An action verb is a word that tells what the subject of a sentence does, did, or will do. • It can express physical actions, (run, jump, play) • OR they can express mental actions(see, hear, think)
