Real-Time Reports. In this training, we'll showcase reports which will best track circulation, new users, site traffic, and popular titles. Your team can then use these online reports to gauge how your OverDrive Download Service is doing, and track a path to future success.

Getting Started • Go to Content Reserve: www.contentreserve.com. • Click onthe'Login' tab. • Enter your Content Reserve 'Login ID' and 'Password'.This is the same Login ID / Password used to order titles. Need a login for Content Reserve? Contact the coordinator at your library / consortium for OverDrive download services.

  5. Tips • Share or print a report: Results can be exported to an Excel spreadsheet. Click on 'Create Worksheet' from the results page. • Select multiple items: Control-click to select multiple items in a drop-down. Consortia members: Member libraries have the option to run reports by library.

  9. Selection Team. Goal: Build a Strong Collection Action Item: Check your Patron Activity Chart and set realistic goals. Selectors will use reports to help identify popular titles, subject areas, and formats. Selectors can also encourage activity from existing users by keeping your OverDrive download collection fresh. • New titles. • New formats. • Additional copies of popular titles to shorten the hold period.

  10. Marketing Team. Goal: Reach New Users. Action Item: Need promotional ideas? Contact partnerservices@overdrive.com. • You'll use reports to track new users and site usage. • A significant majority of your community is unaware of your OverDrive Download Service. • Determine your library's ideal percentage growth and strive to increase your numbers month over month. • Promotional events: • Check numbers before, during, and after an event. • Set goals for the next time you try the same campaign. • There are always more users to reach!

Action Item: Contact training@overdrive.com for help with reports. • The Administrative Team uses reports to track overall success. • What are your targets for overall growth in the areas of collection and circulation? • Compare your current statistics to statistics from last year / last quarter. • Have your numbers increased as expected? • Consortia members - Compare library to library statistics. • How does your library compare to libraries of a similar size?

  13. Evaluate your Download Collection Activity Charts • See what content is already popular and make informed purchasing decisions. • Turnover Rate Charts • Are you meeting user demand for subjects, formats, and publishers? • Compare circulation activity to turnover rate statistics.

  14. Evaluate your Download Collection Current Waiting List & Waiting List History • Track your most requested titles and keep users satisfied. • Compare the current waiting list to waiting list history to see if a title has been 'in demand' over time.

  16. Evaluate Promotions What causes increases or decreases month to month? • New Patron Registrations • Keep track of new user registrations for your Virtual Branch. More users = more checkouts. • Note: A 'registration' is counted the first time a user signs in to your Virtual Branch website. • Patron Activity Charts • View the number of different users that checked out titles by date or branch. Use both of these reports after promotional campaigns to compare percentage increases.

Evaluate Promotions • Traffic Reports: Evaluate promotional efforts. • Track Page Requests and Patron Session numbers monthly. • See what URLs are directing users to your Virtual Branch. • Examples of URLs you should find here include your library's home page and online catalog. Evaluate Overall Success • Digital Library Statistics • View a snapshot of statistics for your Virtual Branch: • Titles and copies. • Checkouts. • Holds. • Users. • Each section includes total numbers as well as a break down by format. • A great summary for a quick evaluation or an annual report.

Try this… • Login to Content Reserve and view the reports we discussed today for your library. • Suggestion: Set the time frame for one year ago to the current date to evaluate your growth. • Schedule calendar reminders to review the reports monthly. • Work with your team (collection, marketing, or administrative) to set goals, and coordinate review of reports.
