Definition foundation walling means constructing foundation under the ground which will hold the building in place firmly to the ground Strip foundation A type of foundation constructed to carry the load of the building to a firm base Setting out Is the transfer of the building measurement from the building plan to the actual field or site
Importance of foundation walling Transfer dead and live loads of the building into the soil structure Provide a strong firm base of constructing the building Provide exact measurement of building the succeeding superstructure Prevent moisture and ground water from entering the house
Construction of the foundation walling Excavation of the trenches to a depth of 1000mm Lay concrete strip foundation on a level base trenches to concrete mix of 1:3:6 thickness of 200mm Set out the first course aligning it using plumb bob spirit level and builders square and joint using cement mortar (1:3 ) Construct three courses to ground level and backfill the trenches with excavated soil and compact Fill the foundation walling with hardcore, and construct a floor screed on the foundation
