3. 3 1. National Water Resources Infrastructure The NWRI Branch in DWA develops new water resources infrastructure and operates and maintains existing assets for the storage and supply of raw water.
Existing infrastructure is grouped into four clusters

5. 5 2. Irrigation Schemes Most irrigation schemes are operated and maintained by Water User Associations (WUAs)/Irrigation Boards
DWA provides capital for major refurbishment or rehabilitation as the schemes are still owned by the Department
DWA operated schemes are for multi–users: domestic/industrial and irrigation
Irrigation water released from dams into rivers
