  34. Student test scores are at best a proxy for a relatively small portion of the learning that should take place in school. They do not demonstrate deep thinking or the critical elements of being a full human being such as creativity, courage or compassion (Houston, P., 2007, p. 37).

  36. Math Awards 65th Annual American Mathematics Contest • 9th and 10th grade division ~ Outstanding score of 116 • 11th and 12th grade division ~ For the fourth consecutive year John Jay student scored the top 25% of all nationwide scores

  37. John Jay Middle School Junior Science Olympiad • 15 students competed at Regional Competition in 20 events • 7 students won awards • Team placed 5th 29th Annual Tri-County Science and Technology Fair • 3 outstanding awards • 3 honorable mentions
