Work-Based Licensure Steps To Work-Based Professional Licensure • Submits application and supporting documentation • Receives Letter of Eligibility (LOE) • Seeks employment w/LOE in hand • When hired, district submits Confirmation of Employment (COE- formally a VOE in CATE) • License issued and applicant registers for DIRECT institutes • Completes all work-based licensure requirements in five years • Receives Professional License

Work-Based Licensure • Work-Based Licensure Requirements • Years 3-5 (CATE Pre-Professional License) • Pass Basic Skills examination (WorkKeys)* • Complete six semester-hours of professional coursework • *All CATE teachers are expected to take the basic skills examinations at least once a year until all portions are passed.

Pre-Service • Please remind candidates that pre-service registration begins at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, at Dreher High School in Columbia, SC.
Praxis • If a candidate passes the Praxis BEFORE December 12, 2014, he/she will be cleared for Winter pre-service • If they do not have their scores back before the beginning of pre-service, they can go ahead and participate in pre-service, but if they do not receive a passing score they will NOT receive a license and if hired for 2015-16 must attend pre-service again along with the registration fee.

Extension year candidates • If you have candidates on an extension year, please help us stay on top of their coursework and passing the PLT • Pre-approved course list is on Moodle for current participants • Please submit your ADEPT reports for extension year candidates
COEs • After December 8, 2014, please submit a COE for 2015-16 in order to generate candidates for summer pre-service. • These candidates must be considered a long-term substitute until 2015-2016.
