  4. Income • On a entry level, toxicologist earn $35,000 to $60,000 • With a Ph.D. degree and 10 years of experience toxicologist expect to earn $70,000 to $100,000 annually • Corporate executive toxicologists earn $200,000 or more

Education & Demand • 55% receive Ph.D.’s • 22% master’s degrees • 23% bachelor’s degrees • Internship is required depending on the field in with you wish to become a toxicologist it may take up to ten years. • The demand for toxicologists is increasing with rate of consumers being more health conscious and eco-friendly.

  7. A day with a toxicologist • “Toxicologists work in offices, laboratories, industrial facilities and outdoors. Testing new products often involves conducting experiments on animals. Toxicologists must pay careful attention to safety procedures when handling toxic materials and substances of unknown toxic potential. Safety procedures vary with the task and may require simple protection (gloves and mask) to full body suit and the use of an isolated room. Toxicologists may work alone or in teams. Some overtime may be necessary for work that requires strict time schedules. Travel may be required to collect field samples, testify at hearings or in court, respond to emergencies or crisis situations, or attend scientific meetings.”
