What will assessment day look like? • Assessment teams will • Check in at the school office • Go to the predetermined work area • Work with the SC to set up and conduct assessments • Collect completed questionnaires
For grade 8, can the sessions be given together? • TIMSS and NAEP-TIMSS Link have different timings and cannot be assessed together • Sessions can be held concurrently
For grade 4, can the sessions be given together? • TIMSS and PIRLS have different timings and cannot be assessed together • Additional staff can be brought into the school so that • Sessions can be held concurrently • PIRLS can be held in a large space while TIMSS is held in another large space
How long will the team be in the school? • Teams should arrive 1 hour before the assessment • Teams will be in the school for about 4 hours
Can schools ask for date changes to accommodate state tests? • TAs will work with the SCs to schedule TIMSS-PIRLS to reduce conflicts with state assessments
Do TIMSS and PIRLS offer accommodation sessions? • No, TIMSS and PIRLS do not offer accommodation sessions
Are you aware that some states cannot use incentives? • Yes, we have identified states that will not allow incentives and negotiated a solution
Are NAEP and TIMSS separate assessments even though NSCs recruited the schools? • In order to provide the best data for the NAEP-TIMSS Linking Study, NSCs helped with grade 8 TIMSS recruitment • Cooperation rate is 91%; highest level since study began
Can you explain how the NAEP-TIMSS Linking Study works? • During NAEP some 8th grade students were administered booklets with TIMSS items • During TIMSS some 8th grade students were administered booklets with NAEP items • Data allows for a statistical link and a projection of TIMSS scores for math and science in all states
Which states will receive state level data for TIMSS? • The eight validation states are • Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and North Carolina • The two benchmarking states are • Florida and North Carolina
