  8. 2019 Timeline Overview • June: Parade practice & Tag Day • July: Lawrence July 4th Parade, summer break, band camp • August: Back to school, after-school, and Saturday practices • September – November: more rehearsals, football game performances, LC Invitational, contest season

  9. Fan Club Meet & Greet at 2-9’s You can ask for tips to navigate through all things marching band. Arrange a car pool. Talk about section parties. Create a group text to communicate upcoming events. Organize a ride share to contests. Get the 411 on volunteering. Chat about other performing arts classes / events. Have fun because it’s a long season and we are all in this together! Join us 8:30p-9p for a sweet treat while waiting to pick up your marcher from 2-9’s. Get to know other parents within your marcher’s section. Look for us under a canopy next to the shed on the left side of the parking lot immediately past marching band drop off. If raining, look for location sign on Door 16.

June Rehearsals and Parade • June 19th & 20th: Rehearsal 2pm - 9pm • June 24th - 27th: Rehearsal 2pm - 9pm • June 28th: Rehearsal 10am - 4pm, field trip to Muncie for DCI Competition 5pm - 11pm • June 29th: Tag Day 8am - 4pm • July 1st -3rd: Rehearsal 2pm - 9pm • July 4th: Lawrence 4th of July Parade 9am (report time @LC) - 12pm (est. dismissal time)

Forms The following forms must be completed, signed and returned to your school’s Performing Arts Assistant before July 4th: • IHSAA Physical Forms – signed by a physician • Performer Contract • Online Registration - includes Medical Consent & Authorization Form, Information Verification Form, and Parent Volunteer Opportunities Form • Go to marchingpride.organd click on Forms & Paymentsto print the Physical Form and Performer Contract, and to complete the Online Registration. Printed forms are also available outside the auditorium • The 2019 MPLT handbook is also located on the website. All MPLT members (and their parent/guardian) should read the handbook at the start of each marching band season.

July Band Camp Overview • Sunday, July 21st: 1pm - 3pm:Mandatory Registration at LC Hall of Fame (Door #11) Parents need to be present to register their students. 3pm - 9:30pm: Rehearsal will immediately follow registration. Dinner provided as part of the MPLT Meal Plan. • Monday, July 22nd - Thursday, July 25th: 7am - 9:30pm: Band Camp at LC (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner provided) • Friday, July 27th: 7am - 5pm: Band Camp at LC (Breakfast & Lunch provided) 6pm - 8:30pm:Parent Preview Night & Cookout

  14. Freshman Orientation and Schedule Pickup • Freshman Orientation • LN Freshman Orientation will be held on Thursday, July 18th • LC Freshman Orientation will be held on Thursday, July 25th. Freshman MPLT members will attend practice in the morning, Orientation during the 1pm - 3:30pm session, then return to Band Camp after Orientation has ended. • Schedule/ID/Chromebook Pick-up • LN students will pick up their schedules on Wednesday, July 17th • LC students will pick up their schedules on Monday, July 29th at 1pm, then should report to the band room to prepare for rehearsal starting at 2pm.

  15. Band Camp Experience MPLT Band Camp lays the foundation for the rest of the band season. A large portion of the show will be learned during this intense immersion experience. An ensemble performance group of this size must work not only on technical skills, but also on the teamwork and discipline that will ensure their success in every single performance. Band Camp is a closed campus. Students may not leave rehearsal until they are released by the directors. Parent volunteers are granted special permission to be on campus during their shift. Absences due to illness must be called in to a director by a parent to 317-964-7450. Parents will receive a phone call and/or text message if their child does not report to camp.

  18. Band Camp Volunteers • First Aid Station • Water Stations • Meals • Uniform Fitting • Register to volunteer (Link will be posted in the Parents tab at marchingpride.org once it has been updated for the 2019 season) Non-parent family members (over 18) are also welcomed to volunteer.

Rehearsal After Band Camp • Monday, July 29th and Tuesday, July 30th - 2pm to 9pm at LC • Wednesday, July 31st - No Rehearsal • Thursday, August 1st - First Day of School Rehearsal 6:30pm - 9:30pm at LC • Friday, August 2nd - Rehearsal 4:30pm - 7:30pm at LC • Saturday, August 3rd - Rehearsal10:00am – 5:00pm at LC

  20. Timing Is Everything “Early is on time, on time is late” • 15 Minute Rule Students are expected to arrive for practice 15 minutes early so they are in positionand ready to rehearse at the scheduled start time. • Dismissal Time The staff makes every attempt to end rehearsals on time. Section leaders may require short meetings after rehearsal ends. Instruments/equipment/props must be put away.  Your child may not be ready to leave until 20 to 30 minutes after rehearsal ends. "Being on time requires zero talent"

After-School Rehearsals Rehearsal Schedule Monday - Winds & Percussion Only - 4:30pm to 6:30pm Color Guard Only - 6:30pm to 8:30pm (through 10/7) 4:30pm to 6:30pm (starting 10/14) Tuesday - Full Band - 4:30pm to 6:30pm Wednesday - (No rehearsal until 10/16) Full Band - 4:30pm to 6:30pm Thursday -Full Band - 6:30pm to 9:30pm Fan Club Night - 8:30pm to 9:30pm (starts August 8th) Friday - Full Band - 4:30pm to7:30pm* Saturday - Full Band- 10am to 5pm *On Fridays where MPLT is performing at an LC or LN football game, estimated dismissal time is 9:30pm Attendance at after-school rehearsals is mandatory, please schedule appointments around rehearsal when possible. FALL BREAK REHEARSALS - MANDATORY! Please, no vacations.

  22. Shuttle Busses to After-School Rehearsals • Shuttle Busses are provided by the township totransport students from their home school (Lawrence Central or Lawrence North) to the school where practice is held. • When practice is held at Lawrence Central, the shuttle will pick up Lawrence North students outside of door 11. • When practice is held at Lawrence North, the shuttle will pick up Lawrence Central students outside of door 10. • Activity busses may be available to take students home at the end of Tuesday and Wednesday practices. • Students will not be transported back to their home school at the end of rehearsal. Parents should pick up their student at the rehearsal location.

  23. Contest Season • MPLT members rehearse on contest days before their performance. It’s not unusual for call times to be very early in the morning and pick-up times to be very late in the evening. Contest itineraries will be sent via listserv and Remind 101 the week of the contest. • September Contests: LC Invitational (9/14), Avon Invitational (9/21), Ben Davis or Fishers Invitational (9/28) • October Contests: Center Grove Invitational (10/12), ISSMA Regional @ Center Grove (10/19), BOA Super Regional (10/25 - 10/26) • November Contests: ISSMA State Qualifications @ Ben Davis (11/2), ISSMA State Finals (11/9), BOA Grand Nationals (11/14 - 11/16)

  24. Volunteering TheMarching Pride needs your help to make their season great! Volunteers are needed in the following areas: • Band Camp — Meal preparation & service,Water table, Medical staff • Color Guard — Hair & makeup, Wash costumes • Meal Plan — Prepare & serve meals before competitions • Pride Bakers — Bake desserts for competition days • Chaperones — Ride on the busses with students to and from competitions • Crew — Load props & instruments on and off trucks, Create props, Assist students in moving instruments and props on and off the field • Uniforms — Fittings and alterations, Wash unitards • Fan Club — Decorations, Treat bags, etc. • Fundraising — Help raise money for MPLT Fill out the “Volunteer Opportunity Form” and turn it in tonight!

Fee Schedule Fees for the 2019 season are $700 • All prior year(s) fees must be paid in full before Band Camp • $200  Paid by May 29, 2019 (last day of school) • $100  Paid by June 19, 2019 (Mandatory Parent Meeting) • $100  Paid by July 21, 2019 (Band Camp Registration) • $100  Paid by August 31, 2019 • $100  Paid by September 30, 2019 • $100  Paid by October 31, 2019 If you need to set up a payment plan that differs from the fee structure listed above, please contact your home school. Fees: What’s included • GREAT technical staff and instructors • Music rights, drill design, music arrangement, choreography • Transportation to and from competitions • Competition entry fees • Props and equipment • Uniform maintenance and replacement • Guard costumes and flags • Meals and snacks provided during band camp and competitions • Show shirt, first pair of black socks and gloves • Student tickets for DCI field trip and BOA field trip Fees cover most, but not all, of the expenses incurred in running the program.

  27. Fees: What’s not included • Marching Shoes - All new marchers will be assessed a $40 fee for marching shoes. Returning marchers may use shoes from previous year IF they are in good condition. • MPLT Spirit Wear– Shirts, sweatpants, jackets and hats will be available for order online through our vendor. • Additional Gloves and Socks- if you lose or destroy your gloves, you can purchase a replacement pair for $4. Replacement socks are available for $2. • Classroom Fees- Concert band and Color Guard fees will be charged a rate determined by each home school
