3rd Grade Weekly Update Ms. Soeder April 15-19 12 Days till OAA! Language Arts: -This week we are reading a short version of Charlotte’s Web. -Our focus skill for the week is inference. That means the reader takes what they know and what the author says to come to a conclusion. -Our robust vocabulary words are: bristly, dreadful, adamant, inevitable, summoning, nuisance, sedentary, oblige, boasting, and sway. -Our grammar skill is identifying and using irregular verbs correctly. Irregular verbs change spelling when they are changed into a different tense. -Our writing skill writing directions using time order words. Science This week our small groups will be finishing their envelope book projects. Students are researching the habitat, characteristics, classification, life cycle, and predators/prey of a specific animal. They are then putting the information they collected into envelopes and illustrating them. Important News and Reminders -https://orders.scholastic.com/LNG9L. I hope you continue to maintain your focus and awesome behavior. I am very proud of you. -This week we will be pulling incentive sticks for the OAA. Each stick has a fun activity like chew gum in class, wear sunglasses, bring a stuffed animal, pick your own seat, etc. Please be advised that I will not send home a separate note for each activity because of course Earth Day is this month and I want to conserve paper. We will conclude OAA week with a pizza and movie party-my treat! We are SOOOOO ready for this test and we are going to ROCK the OAA! Everyday Math Unit 8 Test and lesson 9.1-9.2 We will be focusing on the following skills: -Check out the review that is due on Tuesday! -multiplication fluency and double digit multiplication. Spelling words: section, caution, fiction, nation, action, vision, vacation, motion, question, mention, station, attention, portion, collection, session. Challenge words: admission, discussion, decision, definition, description.
