3. The Application Form All applications are to be completed on the HEQC Online – using the Re-accreditation form.
The institutional administrator will be required to register in order to receive username and password.
Pre- July 2005 application reference will start with K000CAN while post –July are E000CAN
The application form has two sections
Institutional profile
Programme Application
4. HEQC Online Submission All relevant policies documents should be provided on the HEQC Online application form
Separate information is required for each site of delivery
Once applications have been received, the institution will be invoiced in full
5. Check listing and Screening Internal process: Checklisting and screening is completed by HEQC administrators.
Programmes checklisted and screened for completeness, alignment and clarity.
After this process, we will communicate with the institution if any additional information is required
Programme applications will be returned to allow the institution to update information and include any additional information required
6. Evaluation External process: HEQC evaluation are an evidence based processes.
Peers either individual / group (cluster) assess the programmes
These programme specialists have to make informed judgment using HEQC criteria
7. Recommendations Secretariat recommendations will be written by specialist senior academics
These recommendations will include the historical background of the institution as well as include the findings of the evaluations.
8. Process of Approval- Accreditation Committee and HEQC These recommendations are then presented before the Accreditation Committee for discussion and scrutiny.
This Committee consists of senior academics and managers at both public and private higher education institutions, HEQC members, DHET representatives, representatives from professional councils and sector education and training authorities (SETAs)
The Accreditation Committee will scrutinise the recommendations and all related documentation and reports and provide a final recommendation to the HEQC
The HEQC is the body legally empowered to accredit/ not accredit a programme
9. Communicating Outcomes The only possible outcomes available are:
Re-accredited
Re-accredited with Recommendations
Deferred with Improvement plan
Representation Process: all institutions who wish to appeal the outcome of their applications may make written representation to the HEQC.
10. Schedule and Timeframes Institutions are requested to keep to the schedule and timeframes supplied.
Requests for extensions of deadlines will only be considered if made in writing, and can only be granted by the Director.
Extensions of deadlines will only be considered for extenuating and unavoidable circumstance.
11. 2012 Reaccreditation Cycle Deadlines
HEQC Online opens: 01 September 2011
HEQC Online closes: 31 March 2012
