Gmail Gmail is Googles web based email program. Each user is given a very large storage space – mine is currently 6.4GB and growing. Never need to delete email. Labels are used instead of folders. Live Chat is part of Gmail. Address Book is used in other applications.
How Attachments are Displayed • The photos can be viewed, or downloaded. • All photos can be downloaded with one click. All of then are put into a .zip file and downloaded. Then you must unzip the file – this saves bandwidth. • Next slide shows how photos are displayed.
Calendar • Calendar is like all other Calendar applications with some added features. • You can share your calendar with other people on the Internet (co-workers, relatives, or friends)
Photo Albums • Can make Public or Private Albums. • You can upload your photos, and videos to share with friends that you invite or the general public. • Works very well with Picasa. Will resize and upload a large number with one or two mouse clicks.
Documents • You can creatre, upload, or download “Word”, “HTML”, “PDF”, Spreadsheets, and other types of documents. • Let Google store your documents and do the backups.
Reader • This is an RSS reader. • You can subscribe to news feeds that interest you.
Blogger • Googles Blog Site is www.blogger.com • You can use this to publish your thoughts for the Internet users to read. You can be your very own publishing house.
Conclusion • When I first signed up for Gmail, I was very surprised to find that I had a vast array of Web based applications at my finger tips. • I can now travel and access my data without having to store it on one computer and I can access it using a very light weight computer.
