PSA and AAAP Joint Meeting 2011 Points for Discussions
Program Deadlines • Abstract due end of February first of March • All abstracts need to be read and accepted/rejected in March • In April PSA and AAAP program chairs will put together the program, trying to combine as many sections as possible • Complete Program needs to be done the first of May so it can be published on the AAAP website and in the AAAP book • AAAP final program is due to AVMA first of Jan, however they will still be able to make changes to the AAAP program if we want to move PSA talks into the AAAP program or vice versus
Opening Reception/Mixed • Evening before the official meeting • For 2011 will be Saturday Evening • Funding • For entertainment, drinks, food, etc? • PSA and AAAP need to coordinate donations for this event • Chair is Hector Cervantes
Joint Keynote speaker • No official Keynote Speaker • Change for PSA – will be the morning of the first day (Sunday) for 30 minutes (for the 2011 meeting it will be Sunday morning) • Not sure if we have any PSA members on this committee? Need to talk to Richard Chin to find out who the committee chair is for the AAAP Keynote Speaker
Joint History Lecture/WPSA • Greg Mathis will be presenting for approx. 45 minutes • Topic: • Development of the poultry industry in relation to major scientific discoveries
Joint Breaks • In poster room • Funding – need to talk to AVMA and see if this is included in their cost? • Breaks • 7 to 8 am, before meeting starts - pastry, coffee juice, etc • 9:30 to 10:00 am, Midmorning - coffee, tea, sodas, snacks • 3:00 to 3:30 pm, Mid-afternoon – coffee, tea, sodas, snacks • All 3 breaks on Sunday and Tuesday • Only the morning and midmorning break on Monday
Joint Poster Session • YES both organizations want to do this • Funding for wine and cheese – increase time by 30 minutes or more • Poster size will be 4 x 4 • We will have enough space for 500 posters (combined – so 250 from each)

Potentially Daniel Engeljohn - Discuss Surveillance Techniques and Baseline Data for Establishing the New Performance Guidelines. 4. Vacant - A Swedish/EU scientist to discuss Swedish and EU Salmonella and Campylobacter Intervention Guidelines and Risk Assessment 5. Vacant - An American Meat Institute representative to render An Industry Response to the New Performance Guidelines. 6. Potentially Norman Stern - A panelist to address New and Traditional Salmonella and Campylobacter Detection Technology and Surveillance. Half Day
