  5. Do Now-4-6-11 • Please take your maps from the front table. • Prepare to hand in your map separate from your folder.

  6. What groups had an influence on cultures in present day Central America? Take out your maps. Turn to page 203. Read pages 203-205. Complete the graphic organizer.

  7. Take out your graphic organizer from yesterday. What groups had an influence on cultures in present day Central America?

  8. The Maya (Describe) Built more than 100 cities in what is now Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. AD 900, Mayan Civilization declined Today Mayans live in the mountains of Central America, mostly in Guatemala.

  9. The Spanish (Describe) Spanish arrived in the 1500’s. Missionaries set up schools and churches. Began plantations Practice the Roman Catholic religion

  10. Do Now 4-7-11 • Review your 4 square organizer from yesterday’s class. • Discuss with a close neighbor.

  11. Influences From the Maya Many of the descendents wear traditional Mayan clothing. Speak Mayan language Follow Mayan way of life (Keeping with tradition)

  12. Influences from the Spanish Today speak Spanish Roman Catholic religion is still apart of the culture today. Brought a variety of foods: onions, lettuce, melons, radishes, and bananas.

When you are finished with quiz • Put your quiz on the front desk and take a piece of paper. • Pretend you are the teacher and you need to make up a quiz on the video. • Write 5 questions for your quiz on the front of your paper. (no yes or no answers) Leave room for an answer. • Write the answer to your questions on the back of your quiz.
