EUROPE 47.3 million foreign-born residents in the EU (9.4% of the total population) 63.4% of the EU residents born abroad come from highly developed countries Citizenship of non-EU foreigners residing in the EU: Turkey, Morocco, Albania(1-2.5 mln. each) WORLD World highest net migration rates: Qatar (40.6), Zimbabwe (23.7), United Arab Emirates (16.8) and Singapore (15.6) Europehighest net migration rates:Cyprus (10.7), San Marino (8.96), Luxembourg (8.15) and Spain (5.02). EU-WIDE RESEARCH SHOWS THAT DIVERSITY CAN • reduce the impact of aging • contribute to prosperity, creativity and growth • improve decision-making in small teams • productivity and wages are higher in regions and cities with a more diverse population And also that • diaspora enterpreneurship fosters development both in host countries and in countries of origin • Immigration increases foregin trade
