Dairy: A Health and Wellness Solution • A Wholesome Nutrition Powerhouse • Dairy foods supply just 10 percent of the calories in the American diet, but deliver: • 3 of the 4 nutrients of concern for adults (calcium, potassium, vitamin D, fiber) • 51% of the calcium and 58% of the vitamin D • High quality protein • Accessible, Affordable and Delicious • Milk, cheese and yogurt’s great taste and portability, as well as new product innovations make good nutrition more accessible to all Americans. • Lactose-free products; lower sugar/calorie flavored milk; low-fat/lower sodium cheeses; healthier pizza and single-serve re-sealable milk are just a few examples. • At about 17 cents a glass, milk is a nutritional bargain.
