Course outlines • Required to be uploaded onto Canvas • Course objectives • Learning outcomes • Evaluation criteria and grading (Senate recommends that a 1 to 2 sentence description of each component in the marking scheme be provided) • Required Materials • Course schedule – November 29th last teaching day (http://www.calendar.ubc.ca/okanagan/) • Missed graded work and other policies • Please e-mail a copy to cmps.okanagan@ubc.ca

  3. Academic misconduct Directly reported to the Dean’s office – generally give a 0 on the assignment or test: Cheating Plagiarism Submitting the same, or substantially the same essay presentation or assignment more than once Impersonating a candidate at an examination or other evaluation

  4. Exam periods Formal examination periods offered in December and April (June and August for summer terms) No holding examinations (formal or informal) during the 2 weeks preceding the formally scheduled examinations in December and April TA support for invigilating/marking of examinations depends on course size Deferred exams – Rare cases where Dean’s office approves a deferred exam. Contact Bowen Hui (bowen.hui@ubc.ca) if this comes up All 1st and 2nd year courses must have a final exam

  5. Security and privacy training UBC email address Student (including TA) e-mails are not to be disclosed to another party without their prior consent Confidentiality FIPPA Mandatory online Privacy and Security Training https://privacymatters.ubc.ca/fundamentals-training

  6. Grades Grades are due 7 business days after the final exam date or 5 days following examination dates written on the last 2 days of the examination period. Upload grades onto FSC manually. FSC and Canvas are not linked.

  7. Storage of final exams/student work Final exams must be kept for 1 calendar year after the date of the exam. Return all final exams to the Department Administrative Assistant. Student work can be securely shredded once the term is over. DO NOT leave out exams for students to come pick them up on their own. You will print your own final exams. Please e-mail an electronic copy to cmps.okanagan.@ubc.ca

  8. Mentorship Relationship with your assigned mentor: Check syllabus before term starts Check first exam questions and results Check final exam Other teaching related issues

  9. Resources Teaching Assistants – Hours are an average, expectations are flexible. Have a meeting before their duties start and schedule weekly meetings afterwards.
