  2. Objectives At the end of this lesson, trainees are expected to: • Identify the steps in installing Office 2010 for OOBE/ FPP/ ESD • Identify the common issues on why customers can’t install Office 2010

  3. Office 2010 Applications • Word 2010 • Excel 2010 • PowerPoint 2010 • OneNote 2010 • Outlook 2010 • Publisher 2010 • Access 2010

  4. TYPES of Installation Methods • Full Version Installation • a. Out of Box Experience (OOBE) 2. Office Anytime Upgrade Installation

  5. Full Version Installation • OOBE If you have purchased Office 2010 with a new PC, your first step of setup is likely to be through the Out of Box Experience (OOBE). The Microsoft Office 2010 item in the Start Menu launches OOBE directly. • FPP | ESD If you have an original installation CD, start setup.exe from your installation source, the first step is to enter your product key. The installation process is similar to that of the OOBE process after PK entry.

  6. Full Version OOBE Installation Step 1. Click on Start Logo All Programs  Microsoft Office 2010

  7. OOBE Note: Clicking Activate starts setup for Office 2010 using the Single Image installation source files staged to your computer by the OEM. This is the recommended next step if you already have an Office 2010 product key, such as from the purchase of a boxed Office 2010 product, or a product key card sold at retail. Note: If you use this option to install another suite of Office 2010, Office Starter 2010 is removed from your computer. If you need to keep Office Starter 2010 to run beside your other Office 2010 suite, start Setup.exe directly from your Office installation source folder or disc. If you have not yet purchased Office 2010, you can click Purchase. This takes you to a web page with options for purchasing Office 2010 for your PC. This is useful for someone who has purchased a new PC with Office Starter 2010, but has decided to install a different edition. The purchase page offers a choice of retailers, including the Microsoft Store, based on your region. The specific purchase offers and steps vary by retailer.

  8. Step 2. If Activate is selected… …customer will be prompted to enter the Product key

  9. Step 3. Customer will need to accept the Terms and Agreement and click on Continue

  10. Step 4A: Install Now If INSTALL is selected, all the applications will be installed

  11. Step 4B: Customize Programs not included in your suite are indicated with the “(Trial)” designation, and will be installed by default as a 60-day trial. If CUSTOMIZE is selected, customer will be given options to select the applications he want to install

  12. Step 4C: Upgrade Install In an upgrade installation, you will also have an Upgrade tab in the Customize interface. As with Office 2007 setup, this is where you can choose whether any previous version programs are retained. Note: If you use the default upgrade option it is possible that previous version Office products will be replaced by trial-licensed Office 2010 products. If you want to avoid this, customize the installation, select the Remove only the following applications option, and uncheck the previous version programs you wish to keep.

  13. 64bit Architecture • The Platform tab is shown only when you run setup in a 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows. This tab has been added to show your options for installing an alternate architecture. • In the example on the next slide, setup was run on a PC with no previous version of Office installed. In this case, you have the option of installing either 32-bit or 64-bit Office 2010, so the instructions to change to 64-bit Office 2010 are provided.
