Technology Development –Cell Phone Tracker • Requirement derived from experience at NOVEX and Ardent Sentry 07 • Need for a small, “cell-phone-sized” tracking unit for CST and first responder personnel • Both IGRS and EDI considered too large • Much of the EDI and IGRS functionality not needed for this application • Internally developed specifications: • Small, <3-4 x size of a cell phone • Use existing smart phone technology (includes GPS) to reduce costs • Variable update rate, based on on participant dynamics • MANET capable • Multiple frequencies—US and Euro GSM, 802.11 • Battery life ~ several hours • Interface to other sensors
