  2. Changes • New Superintendent in January 2009 • Change in service model 09-10 • AIG Coordinator became half-time. Then accepted another position in a different district. • PAGE Group formed • New leadership for AIG from a new Director • New AIG Plan

  3. The District AIG Plan Required revision to be approved. Plan is approved, but still a work in progress.

  4. AIG Advisory Council • Re-established • Includes voices of concern over program changes and PAGE members • Representative in relation to diversity • Met monthly initially • Common overriding interest

  5. Subcommittee Work Improving the program by addressing the big issues the Advisory Council saw as important.

  6. Working Together • Broader Identification Subcommittee • K-3 Nurturing Subcommittee* • AIG Curriculum Subcommittee* **Now blended into the K-12 AIG Curriculum Subcommittee

  7. PAGE Group • Formed to advocate for AIG Program • A viable entity • A partner • Organizes Scripts Spelling Bee Grades 3-8 • Members serve on the Advisory Council • Invited me to speak • Members serve on working Subcommittees • Founding member contracted to assist part-time

  8. Professional Development • K-3 Nurturing Dr. Kimberly Chandler, Director of Curriculum at the College of William and Mary Center for Gifted Education • Curriculum Differentiation and the Gifted Learner Dr. Chris Godwin, Director of Teacher Education, Campbell University

  9. AIG Lead Teacher If budget permits, will add this position for 2012-2013.

  10. Program Evaluation Involved: Central Office Associate Superintendent for C&I Accountability Director PAGE Members Elementary Director Secondary Director Director of Special Programs We reached overall conclusions together by looking at the data.

  11. Improve Services to Our AIG Students And Learn More—It is a process. Work Together and Advocate
