Sad loss of this extremely special French photographer. Laurent Schwebel, 52 years old, was killed 8 a.m. February 8, 2012, in Plaza San Martin, a main square in Buenos Aires while taking pictures of a memorial statue. When a thug attempted to grab the camera gear, Laurent tackled the thief who stabbed Laurent repeatedly. After all his many close calls with wild animals around the world, Laurent was at a 'wrong place-wrong time' random chance victim of the most dangerous species on earth. Born in the Alsace region of eastern France. Laurent worked as a geologist, naturalist as well as a daring photographer. Attached are a few of his outstanding photos that are now his memorial.
