  4. What is the Early Years Foundation Stage? The EYFS is a legal document of England called the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework for children from birth to 5 years of age.

  5. The EYFS sets out the following: • 7 areas of learning and development which guide the teacher’s engagement with your child’s play and activities as they learn new skills and knowledge • Assessments that will tell you about your child’s progress through the EYFS

  6. There are 3 prime areas of development. These are: • Communication and language; • Physical development; and • Personal, social and emotional development. • These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. • As children grow, the prime areas will help them • to develop skills in 4 specific areas. • Literacy; • Mathematics; • Understanding the world; • Expressive arts and design.

  7. Elements of Montessori? We have blended theEYFS curriculum with Montessori elements of practical life> The materials and exercises contribute to the development of both small and large motor skills of the child and it assists the child in becoming self-efficient and independent. Also enables the respect and care for the environment.

  8. Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.
