Mission “ESPON 2020 shall continue the consolidation of a European Territorial Observatory Network and grow the provision and policy use of pan-European, comparable, systematic and reliable territorial evidence”. The programme covers the entire European territory – 28 Member States + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland

  3. Target Groups • Primary target groups • European policymakers (EP, EESC, EC, CoR) • National policymakers and practitioners • Authorities implementing ESI funded programmes • Regional and local policymakers and practitioners involved in territorial and urban development and in cooperation in larger territories • Secondary target groups • Organisations at EU level with regional/urban interests • Academics (researchers and students) • The private sector and European citizens

  4. Priority Axes • The Single Beneficiary, the ESPON EGTC, is contracted to implement • Priority Axis 1: Territorial evidence, transfer, observation, tools and outreach • Budget around € 48 million • The ESPON Managing Authority, the Ministry for Sustainable Development and Infrastructures in Luxembourg, implements • Priority Axis 2: Technical assistance (TA) • Budget around € 3 million

Objectives • 5 specific objectives • SO 1: Continued production of territorial evidence • SO 2: Upgraded knowledge transfer and analytical user support • SO 3: Improved territorial observation and tools for territorial analyses • SO 4: Wider outreach and uptake of territorial evidence • SO 5: Leaner, effective and efficient implementation provisions and proficient programme assistance
