May stretch team limits, but not extreme • Not below standard or out of reach • Meaningful • Start with those most important • Develop the attitudes, abilities, skills, etc… to reach your goal An attainable goal will usually answer the question: How: How can the goal be accomplished? Attainable

  7. Find a goal that matters – relevance • Aligned with other goals • Find support: • Resources • Advocates A relevant goal can answer yes to these questions: Does this seem worthwhile? Is this the right time? Does this match our other efforts/needs? Are you the right person? Realistic

  8. Deadline commitment • Plan ahead • Delegate A time-bound goal will usually answer the question: When? What can I do six months from now? What can I do six weeks from now? What can I do today? Timely

  9. Set a vision • Determine what you specifically want to accomplish (Specific) • Decide how you will track your progress (Measurable) • Evaluate if all factors are possible (Attainable) • Make sure your goal is reasonable (Realistic) • Set deadlines and a completion date (Timely) planning
