Economic Aspects • Created many trading deals with countries: Japan & Britain • (In Russia) she instituted the Assignation Bank, issuing the 1st paper money of the government • Catherine established the free economic society to encourage the modernization of agriculture and industry • Catherine encouraged foreign investment in economically underdeveloped areas • Catherine relaxed the censorship law
Economic Aspects • Among her economic measures were the establishment of the Loan Bank, the reduction of the burdensome salt tax, and the encouragement of the Free Economic Society • The Free Economic Society was founded through private initiative for the dissemination of information about agriculture.
