Stories deal with the things that matter most – values and morality.
Stories create new understanding FRAMES are the way we make sense of the world and process new information. Frames are constructed out of our values & life experiences. FACTS that don’t fit our dominant frame are easily discarded. PERSONAL STORIES can’t be dismissed as easily. They open the opportunity for new understanding.
STORIES CAN ACTIVATE NEW FRAMES Most of us have a variety of conflicting frames. Some are stronger than others. Words & images activate the frames in our head. STORIES that connect with a person’s values can activate new frames and create new understanding. Repetition makes frames stronger.
