Learning Resources • All course work for lessons is in the LMS • On line Student Handbook (shows how to access data bases, OERB and how to use LMS tools) • Learn 360 • www.learnontario.ca • Open Educational Resources (search)
Technical Information • All software is on school computers • Citrix Login for ICS students • Your elearning period is timetabled: preferred access to assigned computers in that period • Report computer problems • No tech support for home computers or Macintosh • Protect your passwords! • Back up all files for your own protection
Expectations of Students • LOG IN AND WORK DAILY • Read the Course News as soon as you log on • Designed for 110 hours but will need more time • Read and reply to all messages; Become involved in class discussions • Consider the LMS info as the minimum…look outside for enrichment • Contact the teacher before small problems escalate • Become familiar with LMS (complete orientation) • Use the scheduler and be aware of deadlines • Hand in assignments to the proper dropbox on time • Report any problems with the course to the teacher • Be a self directed trouble-shooter • Use integrity, do not become involved in academic dishonesty or plagiarism • File loss is not an excuse
Attendance • 5 days • 10 DAYS • 15 DAYS
On line Community • Be considerate of others • Do not use profane or derogatory language • Use full words and sentences in communications • Do not give out descriptive info about yourself to anyone • All communications must be held in the LMS • Abuse of protocol will result in loss of LMS privileges…this is VERY problematic…no access to course = no success • Read and abide by LMS user agreement that you agree to at logon
Important Information • Username and passwords provided at this orientation. • Attendance is kept and reported by the LMS….you must login everyday…it keeps track ALL session details • Notify your teacher through the LMS If you are going to be away • Your attendance record will be tracked and phone calls will be generated as in any traditional school. • Your home school is defined as the school were you are registered • Your host school is the site at which your teacher is working
