INCEPTION The Namibian-German Centre for Logistics is Business Unit within the Namibia University of Science and Technology, funded under the German Academic Exchange Services. It is a co-operation between the Polytechnic of Namibia and Flensburg University of Applied sciences

Rationale • The Centre for Logistics supports the works and needs of the regional transportation and logistics industry, • Support the development of SADC’s growing economies • Serve as a One-Stop-Shop for all logistic issues.
Aim: Short Courses • Short courses are aimed at those already working in the industry who wish to: • develop a strategic view of long term operations and be capable of reviewing operational activities. • Short Course (s) content is relevant and regularly reviewed for the following purpose: • Transferable & Applicable in work places, meet the needs of individuals & employers
Short course education • NGIL offers short courses from professional bodies in Namibia • Some are internationally recognized, and more recently demand has been put on offering accredited and registered qualifications. • What is accredited and registered then?
Accreditation • Accreditation is a process in which certification of a competency, authority, or credibility is presented. • An accreditation body is the one tasked with assessing organizations’ and certifying them if standards are met. • Within Namibia, the Namibian Qualification Authority, is the body tasked with giving accreditation to a training or educational institute organisation.
Accreditation • The NGIL is part of NUST which is recognized as tertiary education institute. • The NGIL follows the policies and procedures of NUST, and therefore adhere to the same teaching and assessment policies, except where stated. • However the NGIL does not own any qualifications, therefore it opts for professional body affiliations.
Registered/Regulated • Registered/Regulated qualifications are ones that have after their creation been sent to a qualifications body to be screened for registrations on a qualification level. • It goes through a rigorous process to make sure the qualification is appropriate for its suggested level.
Registered/Regulated cont’ • In Namibia NQA is the functioning body, and all qualifications that want to be registered will have to go through them to be put on the framework. • Most countries have their own Qualifications authority. • Qualifications authorities also work towards benchmarking and assessing qualifications of other countries, however most only recognize qualifications if they are registered in the country of origin.

CILT UK • CILT UK is the independent professional body for individuals associated with logistics, supply chains and all transport throughout their careers. • CILT UK qualifications are registered on Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) in the UK. Qualifications are given UK levels that are specific on supply chain, logistics and transport fields

Mode of study/Programme Offering • Part Time • In Windhoek – Monday & Wednesday OR Tuesday & Thursday (Certificate & Diplomas) • In Regions – Weekends (Saturday and Sunday X2/Month - (Certificate & Diplomas). • Advanced Diplomas • All in Windhoek – dates will be announced • Examinations, supplementary and assignment submission dates are available, these will be sent to all registered students.
Fees applicable • Admin charges will be applicable to second or more prints, i.e. proof of registration and any other relevant letter or document.
Communications and materials • All students are registered as a member on CILT, to enjoy the benefits of its resources. • Student material will be customized and provided by email, all students have to take responsibility for their own printing. NB!! Only students that pay their registration costs will receive their course material. • Student will receive material dependent on the amount they pay. Payments should be made in advanced so it does not overlap notification scheduled dates. • All students should make sure they have an active email address for all communications.
