HomeworkReinforces or previews classroom learning • Math: assigned Monday, due Friday • Reading: read at least 20 minutes (15 pages) each night • Language Arts: every night except Friday • Science: Review notes 15 minutes each night. Additional HW assigned as needed. • Social Studies: Assigned as needed These are general guidelines that are subject to change at the discretion of the teachers. Please check your child’s agenda for daily assignments.
TECHNOLOGY We live in a high-tech world! • www.yeager.dcm.schoolinsites.com • Some assignments require computer use • Douglas County Public Library • Use computers for FREE! • Students will not be excused from an assignment because they don’t have computers at home.
USING THE AGENDA Agendas are used for daily communication between, student, teacher, and parent.
AGENDA • STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY • Bring to every class, every day • Write all assignments • PARENT RESPONSIBILITY • Check agenda for assignments, notes from teachers • Sign every night
GRADES • 10%-homework • 30%-tests and projects • 60%-classwork, notes, participation, etc.
GRADING SCALE A = 90 – 100 B = 80 – 89 C = 74 – 79 D = 70 – 73 F = Below 70

Reading • 25 Book Campaign • Application of Elements of Literature • Reading fluency and comprehension • Vocabulary-definitions and usage • Competence in a variety of genres
Language Arts • Narrative, expository, persuasive writing • Study of literature • Daily grammar practice (DOLs)
Math • Students should be taking notes in class daily. • Homework is assigned on Monday and due on Friday. • Each month students have a vocabulary activity due. • Students take a test/quiz each Friday.
Science • Cells, Classification, Genetics, Ecology, Evolution • YMS Science Fair-October 22, 2009 • Donations for labs and projects
Social Studies • Our focus this year will be on the continents of Asia and Africa • This includes the Middle East • Please check your e-mailfrequently
LOCKERS Students have 3 times per day to go to lockers. • During homeroom • Before 4th period • Before the last period of the day
7TH GRADE EXPECTATIONS • Be on time for class • Be prepared (pencil, pen, paper, agenda) • No gum, candy, food in class • Shirts tucked (male students) • Walk quietly on right side of hallway • No backpacks, string bags in classrooms
DISCIPLINE PIE Discipline Ladder • Step 1: Parent contact (agenda, email, phone) • Step 2: After-school detention (Wednesday 3:30-4:30) • Step 3: In-team suspension • Step 4+: Disciplinary Office Referral Student has a separate ladder for each class.
