Snapshot • 5-Year, USD 19.5 million PACE-D Technical Assistance Program • Program formally launched on July 31, 2012 • Being implemented by Nexant and a consortium of Indian and U.S. partners. • Three components of the program: • Energy Efficiency • Renewable Energy and • Cleaner Fossil
Purpose: Improved end-use energy efficiency through scaling up and deployment of energy efficiency technologies • 1. Market Driven Energy Efficiency Technology Deployment • Smart Grid Electric System • Net-Zero Energy Buildings • Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning • Waste Heat Utilization • 2.Institutional Development and strengthening of policy framework for EE Deployment • Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) • Indian Smart Grid Task Force (ISGTF) • Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) • Focus states- SDA’s • 3. Technical Assistance & capacity building to develop and implement innovative financing mechanisms • Improve access to finance through development of innovative finance mechanism • Capacity Building of financial stakeholders • 4. FINANCING • Energy Efficiency Financing • Capacity Building for Financing Institutions GOI Counterpart: BEE, MOP
ENERGY EFFICIENCY FINANCE • YearActivities completed • Set up Advisory Team for Energy Efficiency Financing • Launched EE Finance Report (Defined 7 potential innovative EE financing mechanisms) • Designed and launched Corporate Energy Audit Program (CEAP) with Tata Cleantech Capital (TCCL) for mainstreaming of EE financing in bank lending, along the lines of EBRD EE financing program. • Identified activities for supporting BEE for launching of PRGFEE and VCFEE. • Initiated market assessment study for identification of potential pipeline of EE projects for PRGFEE and VCFEE. • Developed and conducting two capacity building workshops for bank loan officers and risk managers on EE project financing. • Year 3 Planned Activities • Continued support for Tata Cleantech Capital for CEAP and exploration of implementation of program at other banks/FIs • Continued support to BEE for implementation of PRGFEE and VCFEE
