GECKOS WHY?
Aboriginal Education Policy 2. There shall be a two-way approach to education between Catholic schools and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people where Aboriginal and Other Australians can learn from each other. A two-way approach to education is experienced when the Aboriginal perspectives in the teaching and learning process are given equal importance to that of the Non-Aboriginal culture. 3. Appropriate Aboriginal Studies curriculum, aligned with the Curriculum Framework, shall be developed within the local school context for all children in WA Catholic schools. 9. Catholic schools will develop a reconciliation strategy with their school communities to ensure the vision of reconciliation is realised.
Vision for Reconciliation ‘A United Australia, which respects this land of ours; values the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage: and provides justice and equity for all.’
