  4. Definitions (b) • Affected employee: work in area • Authorized employee: work on equipment • Hot tap: welding on a pressurized pipeline • Servicing or maintenance: constructing, installing, setting up, adjusting, inspecting, modifying, lubricating, cleaning, unjamming, tool changes

Energy Control Procedure Exception: 1910.147 (c) (4) (i) • no potential or residual energy when off • single energy source • energy isolation completely deactivates • energy is isolated when servicing • use only a single isolation device • done by an authorized employee only • servicing does not create a hazard • no prior accidents

Energy Control Program • 1910.147 (c) (5) • protective material and hardware • durable, standardized, substantial(tag -50 #) and identifiable(DO NOT ENERGIZE) • 1910.147 (c) (6) • periodic inspection • procedure check annually, performed by authorized, inadequacies corrected, review employee responsibility, tagout review with each authorized and affected and certify inspection is done(Id machine, date, employee inspected and inspector)
