Slovenia April 2011 • Partas Mission Statement: • Our aim is to build an inclusive and thriving community by being a leading source of excellence in development of local enterprise and of social economy. • To foster and support entrepreneurship within the community through appropriate business training, mentoring and ongoing support. • To support the innovative development of the social economy through new approaches to analysing, understanding and developing all aspects of the sector at local, national and European levels. • To encourage cohesion through continual analysis of and proactive responses to the needs of marginalized groups within the community. Established in 2008 Provides family centred therapy & educational services for children of all abilities including: • Occupational Therapy • Speech & Language Therapy • Educational Psychology Assessments • Literacy Teacher • Shop selling education toys for children of all abilities Financed through – HSE (Health Service Executive), fundraising, donations, income generated through shop sales and fees for services.   6. Slovenia April 2011 Social enterprises as builders of socially cohesive and sustainable societies Third Age Foundation, Summerhill, Co. Meath. Established in 1988 by Mary Nally. An older people’s organisation, run by older people for older people, which empowers and enables its members. Services include: Drop-in Centre, Internet Cafe, Senior Helpline, Laundry service, Failte Isteach, Financed through: funding from Government, Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, HSE & FAS, membership fees, income generated through laundry service and fundraising.   7. Slovenia April 2011 Social enterprises as builders of socially cohesive and sustainable societies Bella Rose Foundation Dermot McGuckin, Dublin. Bella Rose Foundation est. Nov 2009 Dermot and his wife established ‘Maud’s Merry Maids’ in 2008, a private enterprise offering cleaning services to domestic and commercial customers. In Nov ’09 Dermot developed the ‘Bella Rose Foundation’, a social enterprise which offers a free cleaning service to women who are returning home after receiving treatment in hospital for Cancer. Financed through: Fundraising, donations, intends to apply to Clann Credo (Social Finance) for loan. John Kearns - CEO

Slovenia April 2011 Other ideas currently being developed.. • Tallaght Repairs Co-operative: co-operative of unemployed trades people. • 222 Ireland.com: a 24/7 non emergency helpline. • Space 54: Workshop Arts Centre offering a wide range of activities which promote and support the Arts. • Project offering music programmes to disadvantaged youth in Dublin City Centre. • Project which will develop a new system for social change through the medium of art, film or music.
