Rational Application Requirements You need to install the Portal Tools option to install the stub needed to point to your Portal v5.1.0.1 server and to create portlet projects. 1) Start the installation of Rad v6.0

Required files to install WebSphere Portal v5.1.0.1 Electronic installation: 1) From Passport Advantage or the IBM internal software download site, search for the string: “WebSphere Portal V5.1.0.1 - WebSphere Portal Extend for Multiplatforms, V5.1.0.1 (1 of 2) eAssembly” 2) From the results, select: “WebSphere Portal V5.1.0.1 - WebSphere Portal Extend for Multiplatforms, V5.1.0.1 (1 of 2) eAssembly”
Req’d files to install Portal v5.1.0.1 cont’d 3) Create the following directories in a temporary location: You will need to download specific files and then extract the contents to the directories that were created above. See the next slide for the table.
Running the Portal v5.1.0.1 installation Begin the installation by running install.bat from the CDSetup directory Run through the wizard until you come to this screen:

Running the Portal v5.1.0.1 installation cont’d 5) Remember the location you choose for the Appserver and the Portalserver. You will need them later.

Running the Portal v5.1.0.1 installation cont’d B) CD install. You will need the following CD/ISO images: Burn the CDs and install from the CDSetup CD. You will need to switch Between CDs quite a bit. For unattended install, use the Electronic install or Copy the files from the CDs and configure the installation in the same Way as the Electronic install
Running the Portal v5.1.0.1 installation cont’d • Notes: • Ensure there is no existing portal server on the machine • It does not have to be installed in the RAD install directory • Ensure you have lots of free hard drive space • Ensure ports 8880, 8881 are free • Remember the log directory • Log files located in c:\Documents and Settings\<current user>\Local Settings\Temp\ • Eg: c:\Documents and Settings\<current user>\Local Settings\Temp\wpinstallog.txt
Setting Up RAD to use Portal v5.1.0.1 NOTE: In RAD v6.0.1, you will no longer need to perform this step. It will detect the location for you. Skip to Page 17 1) Go to Window>Preferences>Servers>Installed Runtimes You should see a WebSphere Portal V5.1 stub which was Installed by the Portal Tools feature Warning: If you are upgrading an existing workspace with an existing runtime configuration for portal, you need to delete it and create a new one. It is no longer valid. There is no migration support.
Setting Up RAD to use Portal v5.1.0.1 cont’d 2) Select the Stub and click Edit>Change the directory to where you installed your Portal Test server>Click Finish. Note: Must rename the name of the stub
