Essential Understandings • Our district goals this year will naturally be focused on the reorganization of the Elementary Schools • Our experiences in envisioning and launching The STEM Academy will inform the reorganization. • Our success will depend upon the support of multiple groups – families, staff, community, School Committee, and Town Officials.

  8. Conclusion & Call to Action Revisit our Essential Understandings • Our success will depend upon the support of multiple groups – families, staff, community, School Committee, and Town Officials. With that end in mind, we are creating two Advisory Groups to help with both goals – reorganization and communication. • Collaborative Design Team • Reorganization Planning Team

  9. Collaborative Design Team The Collaborative Design Team (CDT) is a group of teachers from all three current schools that will work with the principal to support innovation within the school. This group will continue beyond the reconfiguration of the schools; each year interested teachers will apply for this compensated position.  The group's focus will remain on academics, instructional practices and leading innovation within the school.  Members from the CDT will also rotate "liaison" responsibilities to the Reconfiguration Planning Team for the 2014-2015 school year.

The CDT will meet after school for approximately 2 hours per month.  Some of the key questions the group will consider for this coming year are: • How do we best organize for student success? • What partnerships can we establish that will best meet the needs of our students? • What do we have to do to create an Early Learning Center (Pk-2) and a Upper Elementary School (3-6)? • What are the values that will serve as the foundation for how we operate?

  11. Reorganization Planning Team The Reorganization Planning Team (RPT) is an advisory group to the principal to help support him/her in the decision making process.   The group will work with the principal to collect information, gather opinions and provide insight that the principal will bring to bear on decisions for the reconfiguration of the school.  Additionally, the group will work with the principal to organize efforts that support communication and a successful transition for students, families and faculty from three schools to two schools.  

  12. The RPT is a volunteer committee made up of staff, parents and community members that represent all three current schools.  This committee will operate for 12-18 months and will have meetings in the evening.  The RPT will focus on the following areas and subcommittees will be formed: • Building Design and Atmosphere • Making connections with the community that • will support enhancements for students. • Student, family and staff transition • Effective, Efficient and Timely Communication
