Introduction • The “Diabetes Education Course” for Iraqi Nurses was conducted at the Raddison SAS Hotel in Amman-Jordon during the period from 19teen-27th January,2007. • It was fully sponsored by Novo-Nordisk and endorsed by the IDF/EMME Region.
Survey Report • N=27 nurses • Age Ranged : 25-45 years • Sex : 63% males 37% females • Marital Status : 41% single • 59% Married • Number of children for those who are married ranged from1-7 • Number of children for those who are married ranged from 1-7

Diabetic Education • 85% did not take any diabetic • education • 15% did take a course • 74% nursed diabetic clients • 26% did not nurse the diabetic clients
Objectives for attending the current course included :- • -increase knowledge • -gain awareness • -help patient with medication • -help diabetic patients family • -Prevent complications • -develop the right service and educate the diabetes • -learn more about diet
The Specific Learning needs of the participants • -educate the client and others • -earn knowledge and update • -learn more about the diabetes, causes • , treatment, complications • -learn about the insulin, diabetic foot, diet • -learn how to deal with diabetic client
Participants Believes about the causative factors of Diabetes in their community • -family history • -stress • -drugs • -environment • -obesity • -unhealthy diet • -no awareness
Cont. • 93% felt that diabetic is a common problem. • 7% did not see it as a problem • 89% are going to work closely with the diabetic clients • 11% will not work with the diabetics
