    2. Review of Intensive Insulin Therapy

    3. Intensive Insulin Therapy (IIT) Intensive diabetes management includes insulin therapy. IIT involves taking 3 or more insulin injections a day (often called MDI-multiple daily injections) or using an insulin pump. This regimen allows for a more flexible lifestyle than the conventional 2 shot a day regimen Intensive insulin therapy also requires more frequent daily blood glucose monitoring.

    4. Insulin to Carbohydrate Ratio (I:CHO) The I:CHO (or I:C) is the number of grams of carbohydrate covered by one unit of insulin The ratio helps you calculate how much insulin you need for the amount of carbohydrate you plan to eat Pediatric ratios may vary from 5-50 Calculated: Grams carbohydrate eaten carb ratio calorieking.com is a nice resource if looking for carb information
