  1. International RO Working Group (IROWG) OverviewGraz, Austria10-11 September 2010 Dave Ector & Axel von Engeln IROWG Co-Chairs

  2. IROWG Formulation • CGMS Meeting 37, October 2009 endorsed the establishment of the IROWG • Decided to join already scheduled OPAC 4 meetings for first conference – thanks to Andrea Steiner and OPAC • Held at Wegener Center, University of Graz, Austria, 10-11 September • Very well attended – over 60 RO scientists representing all major centers worldwide

  3. Subgroups • Numerical Weather Prediction • Climate • Research to Operations • Payload Technology/Research to Operations • Innovative Occultation Techniques • Space Weather

  4. Major Recommendations Examples • Recommendation to CGMS to coordinate between operational partners to establish a long term continuity plan for RO data • Recommendations to utilize on-orbit research satellites – funding and effort to make the data available operationally • SACC • TERRASAR-X • TANDEM-X • C/NOFS • Document processing chains of all centers, keeping track of any introduced changes to processing/instruments • Consider adding GNSSRO payloads to all suitable satellite systems • Establish a long term continuity plan for the GNSS ground station networks to derive orbit and clock data

  5. Immediate Results • Devised a plan to get SACC into operations quickly – SACC is flowing!! • Letters organized and sent by users to agencies to get TERRASAR-X and TANDEM-X data into operations – Fantastic progress (Thanks Rick Anthes)
