Underground Railroad: **System of trails and safe houses designed to help slaves escape to the North and Canada. a. ‘Conductor’- Harriet Tubman

Many think he is ‘uneducated’ westerner (Illinois) 2. Democrats- Douglas (North) / Breckenridge (South) 3. BATTLE for NORTH (Many more People) a. Lincoln not even on Southern state ballots!!!!!!

Southern Congressmen / Army Officers Leave for South
