  1. Offset Printing Terms You Should Know Offset printing, which has become one of the most popular forms of duplication in the world, uses a printing process that was invented in the early 1900s. To fully comprehend this process, let's define a few terms that will help you understand this process better: Offset - This term came into being from the very beginning simply because the ink does not transfer directly to the paper. Instead it transfers to different mediums before going to the paper. Not to be confused are the terms "offset" and "lithography". Lithography means process whereby ink and water separate on a printing plate or other substrate, while offset describes how the ink is transferred to the paper. Web offset - The term web offset refers to the fact that the printing process is being done on a continuous roll of paper. Advances in paper making made this possible, which in turn allowed presses to run much faster. Hence speeds of sheet-fed offset equipment have gone much higher with web offset printing.

  2. Offset blanket - During the offset process, the ink must somehow make it from the printing plate to the paper. This is done my means of an offset blanket. Rollers put the ink on the printing plate. Then the image is squeezed onto a thin rubber surface, the printing blanket. The rubber surface in turn transfers the ink to the paper sheet. Impression - In offset printing, this term generally refers to a single printed copy. However, printers may be able to make more than one finished product from a single impression. This is done to economize the printing process. Halftone - Offset printing uses a unique method of transferring images. It is based on an all-or-nothing system, in which only solid images can be transferred. To give the illusion that a shade is being reproduced, very small dots must be used. This type of image is called a halftone image. Ryobi Press Parts is a website offering a wide range of printing press offset blankets sold in packs. You can choose from different grades, depending on your particular application. This product is known for its high quality and excellent performance.
