  4. Our Structure The CCS has divisions in 10 Canadian provinces The Quebec Division has 14 regional offices: • The CCS also has service centres in certain regions

Material Assistance Program Types of services offered free of charge to cancer patients residing in Quebec only: Dressings and related supplies: Are offered to patients who live at home and who are not under the care of a CLSC or hospital A request form must be duly signed by a health professional Postal service provided for shipped orders and renewals (form included in the shipment box) Loans of wigs and scarves ($20 deposit) Temporary breast prostheses

Full or partial reimbursement on the following, providing certain income criteria are met: Travel expenses Parking fees Made-to-measure orthopaedic stockings, compression garments and mastectomy bras Colostomy bags for temporary colostomy patients Wigs Disposable underwear Preventative treatments for lymphoedema Financial Assistance Program

  8. Jacques-Cantin Lodge • For people who are: • Receiving treatment • Autonomous • 29 rooms (private or semi-private) • Low-cost lodging • Complete lodging, including meals • Transportation to treatment centres • Weekend respite program 5151 de l’Assomption Blvd., Montréal, Quebec

  10. The Cancer J’écoute Team • Counsellors: University education in humanities or in psychology and experience in the health sector. Intensive 6 week training at the CCS followed by ongoing training. • Professionals: Basic training offered by the CCS on cancer and our services. Ongoing training. • Volunteers: Selection process, 2-4 day basic training. Ongoing training. Supervision.

  11. For cancer patients and their loved ones: Phone matching with a volunteer trained in active listening who has lived through a similar cancer experience (cancer patients and caregivers) Phone matching with a professional trained in a specific area Cancer J’écoute Services

Monthly support groups: open meetings where cancer patients and their caregivers can share their experiences and discuss specific topics Visualization workshops: closed meetings for patients Art expression workshops: closed meetings for cancer patients and their caregivers Conferences Regional Office Activities

Part of the Plan québécois d’abandon de tabagisme (PQAT). Jointly managed by the CCS and the Conseil québécois sur le tabac et la santé Partnerships: Quit to Win ! Cancer: a Societal Issue • In 2010, in Quebec: • 45,200 new cases / 20,300 deaths • The most prevalent cancers: breast and prostate • The deadliest cancer: lung • Cancer has been the leading cause of death in Quebec since 2000. • As our population ages and increases, we are facing a true crisis.

Financial results in Quebec: $27.6 M in 2009-2010 Breakdown of program and service expenses • 20%: Research: 59 projects in Quebec • 16.6%: Support: Cancer j’écoute, material and financial assistance, Jacques-Cantin Lodge • 10.8%: Prevention: J’arrête helpline, screening programs, campaigns (sun protection, diet, etc.) • 9.8%: Information: Cancer Information Service (CIS), brochures and Web site • 5.8 %: Financial resource development • 5.1%: General expenses • 1.9%: Advocacy: tobacco control, colorectal cancer screening, financial support for caregivers, palliative care
