Methods • 66 parents of youth ages 11-15 recruited from City of Cape Town worksites • 5 weekly two-hour group sessions for parents stratified by language (Xhosa/Afrikaans) • Session 1: Building Your Relationship with Your Child • Session 2: Talking about Sensitive Topics • Session 3: Talking about HIV & Condoms • Session 4: Building Assertiveness Skills • Session 5: Putting It All Together & Staying Motivated • Surveys at baseline and 3-months post-baseline

  3. Results • Intervention increased number of sex- and HIV-related topics discussed with child, comfort with talking to child about sex, and condom use self-efficacy (p <.05) Number of Topics Discussed (Mean)
