What is UWM’s DESTINED For College Program • Pre-college program • Encourages students to continue in and graduate from high school • Encourages students to enroll in college • Assist students in obtaining their GED/HSED • Assists students with their re-entry into college • FREE
Academic Preparation • One-on-one advising • Group counseling for college preparation • Study skills and test taking techniques • ACT and SAT test preparation • Guest speakers • Visits to college campuses
Career Counseling • Exploration of careers through Compass Guide • Career presentations in fields such as law, medicine, engineering, business, etc. • Information on career fairs
College Admission/Financial Aid • Selecting a College • Selecting a Major • Assistance with completing required forms and admission applications • Understanding and applying for financial aid and scholarship support
Who is Eligible? • Students in grades 8 through 12 • Students who wish to reenter high school or college, or enter a GED program and who is between the ages of 13 and 27 • Students from a family with limited income • Students whose parent’s did not graduate from a four year college
Services are FREE to students who are accepted and who: • Are willing to make a commitment • Have academic potential • Want to improve their grades • Have an interest in education beyond high school and • Have the support of their parents for their involvement in UWM’s DESTINED For College activities
