  3. What WOPs are. A label to be promoted • Water Operators’ partnerships • = • peer-to-peer exchanges for • Capacity Building, • on a not-for-profit basis LABEL= Charter and Code of Conduct

What GWOPA is: a Global platform for WOPs • The Global WOPs Alliance, UNSGAB initiative within Hashimoto Action Plan • Led and hosted by UN-HABITAT upon request by former UN SG • Global mechanism for coordination and support of WOPs • In line with Hashimoto principles (non-profit partnerships, inclusivity)

What GWOPA is: a Global platform for WOPs • A multi-stakeholder network of partners: • GWOPA’s inclusive governance • Alliance of partners for utilities’ capacity building: UNESCO-IHE, UNESCO-UNW, UNICEF, WHO, CAP-NET, IWA, WATERAID, GWP, WSP, regional devt bank, national cooperation agencies etc…

  9. 3. GWOPA’s services • c) Sharing of good practices • and Knowledge Management • WOPs Case Studies, fact-sheets • and WOP profiles online • 5 year collaboration with • UNESCO-IHE on learning • approaches in CB, guidance tools • for WOPs (BEWOP)

  10. 3. GWOPA’s services • d) Finance linking and fund mobilization • Direct financing of short term WOPs • Referrals to financial institutions and partners such as AfDB-AWF, AFD, GIZ, EU-ACP Water Facility, etc. • For platforms • For WOPs • For PIPs

GWOPA and PWWA • On-going :exchanges between Pacific and the Caribbean • 2016: • Signing of a CA between GWOPA and PWWA (50,000 USD) • implementation of 1 WOP • Support to the Secretariat • (on the basis of PWWA future work plan) • - Direct support to 2 WOPs on PIP with OFID funding (2d phase) mentees to be identified
