  2. Malachi 3:1-5; 3:16-4:6 p.729 • Problem 1 – we have a false formula. • Problem 2 – we have a false view of God. • Problem 3 – we try to use God.

  3. The Lord is Near • Malachi 3:1-5 • Sending a messenger = John the Baptist • God is a refining Fire. • God’s goal is not only to forgive you – but to purify you. • God wants your hearts and your habits. • The Lord is the Judge, there will be justice.

  4. The Lord is Near • Malachi 3:17 – 4:6 • Few people – never a problem for God. • Our names in Book of Life through devotion. • All will be judged, including Christians. • Elijah coming – to turn their hearts.

The King Has Come! • Matthew 3:1-12 • John is preaching Malachi’s message. • God does not change, the message has not changed. • Repentance matters. • Matthew 4:17-20 • God’s goal is not only to forgive you, but to purify you. • He is devoted to us – to death. • We are devoted to Him – to death, in life.
