  1. THE UNFINISHED WORK OF JESUS “Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit” (John 19:30).

  2. The “Finished” Work • Personally – He completed His work of redemption – Heb. 9:26 • His revelation of truth, God’s plan. • Left the apostles with the H. S. – John 14:26; 16:13 • Confirmed the word with miracles – Heb. 2:1-4 • But, there’s always something to do.

  3. The “Unfinished” Work • Col. 1:24-29 • Teaching – Matt. 28:18f • Adding to the church – Acts 2:47 • Edifying members – I Cor. 10:23; I Thess. 5:11 • Finishing faith – Heb. 12:2 • We are “helpers” in these areas, but there are things the Lord does “alone.”

  4. His “Unique” Work • Intercession – I Tim. 2:5; Heb. 7:25 • Head over the church – Eph. 1:22 • King of the kingdom – I Tim. 6:15 • Judge at the last day – John 12:48; Acts 17:30f
