Mark 6:45- 49 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people. 46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray. 47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land
. 48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. 49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
Mark 6:30-31 30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
In the Fourth Watch… A Sermon by Servant Brian K Woodson, Sr.
Mark 6:45 ”And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship,”
1. Jesus can and will constrain you. Jesus won’t change your mind on the inside and then ask you… He will just ask you! Jesus won’t make the situation conducive and persuade you… He will just command you! Jesus will ask you to do things you don’t want to do! There is a choice: Obey or not be a disciple!
Question: Are you a follower of Jesus or do you just go to church?
46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
Jesus heads in the opposite direction… deliberately!
2. Jesus will leave you to do what he told you to do! Jesus has an agenda that has nothing to do with what you think should happen in your life… In the meantime… in the meantime… keep rowing… keep believing…
48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them
Work until Jesus shows up and says you are finished! Work until the forth watch!
Jesus would have passed them by… But they cried out
Whenever Jesus shows up… it’s the Fourth watch
